Good for all those who are Waitsians and keen followers of the former hobo Sinatra. And though I’m not in deep like yet with all the tracks on this latest, new songs from Mr. Waits, I can say it’s a welcome listening treat after hearing just too many early Xmas tunes down in the cauldron that is London’s shopping district. So it goes out as The Flimwell Papers’ Music Corner’s Friday’s Fresh Outta The Box selection. Cheers, y’all!
I’m in one of my mighty pissed-off moods today, made at world that wages phony wars when they could wage one or two on poverty, ignorance and not but least cancer of all various kinds! Ok, so the rant set up the mood and here we usually have a Blues tune on Mondays. I think this is a blue tune to be sure and more than a furrow of contempt in “Dress Rehearsal Rag”. Leonard Cohen gives this tune a sort of venom that can only come from someone who once cared very deeply. So I am going play this one more than once today to be sure! It’s the Monday Got the Blues and Some Venom selection from the Flimwell Papers’ Music Corner!
I used this for a teen program. This free, printable planisphere was a huge hit. This astronomical device is an easy-to-use guide to the night sky at any time or date during the year (in the Northern Hemisphere). Provided by the Canadian National Research Council.
