Just one of those songs that aches and stays with you over the years! A blue song that somehow makes you smile. Our pal Richard Hawley played it today on his Radio 6 Xmas show….I’d forgotten that the band had lost two dear friends and members…and I had to agree with Richard’s assessment that James Honeyman-Scott was just one of the great guitarists ever! Add the ingredients together and you get a song that’s a keeper for many years. I had dozens of other songs to put, some more Christmassy than others, some sweeter and some better remembered or even more treasured by the great listening public….but I play this for those who know and love me…thanking them for helping get further in this journey…which one seemed like trying to walk 2000 miles icy winter road in barefeet! xxx
Kate passed away on january 19th. I stopped counting the number of times I caught the McGarrigle Christmas Show….and I always loved this French Carol sung by them….my mother’s Habitant roots I guess…but it’s lovely!
